Yaozhou Kiln Museum Porcelain Show in Wuxi Museum
On July 17th, 2019, “Exquisiteness and Elegance ---- Yaozhou Kiln Museum Porcelain Show” was jointly held by Yaozhou Kiln Museum and Wuxi Museum on the 2nd gallery at the west side of Wuxi Museum, which will last for months till Oct. 9th. 116 pieces or sets of treasures were presented in 7 Dynasty Units to the world, including the Tang, Five Dynasties, Northern Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing and Republic of China, which showcased the exquisite crafts and glorious achievements
As one of renowned kilns in Chinese history, Yaozhou Kiln had gained its reputation throughout the country for its celadonware which is credited as the representative of the celadonware in the ancient Northern China. Since the Tang Dynasty when it had been built, it has developed in the Five Dynasties and reached its prosperity in the Jin Dynasty. Since the Yuan Dynasty, production center has moved from Huangbao Town to Chenlu Town. Huangbao Kiln was abandoned in mid Ming Dynasty, while Chenlu Kiln has been used for over 1400 years through the Ming and Qing Dynasties till now, taking an important position in the Chinese porcelain history. Credited as polished gold or jade ware, Yaozhou porcelain has been popular among common people, royal families, and even foreign countries. Now its historic site, a national cultural relics protect unit, is also listed as one of the Top 100 Chinese Archaeological Discoveries in 20th century, and the crafts are credited as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Reflecting the excavation and research achievements systematically, the Show enhances the cultural communication between Jiangsu and Shaanxi, Wuxi and Tongchuan, and also offers an opportunity to locals and tourists to enjoy the exquisiteness and elegance of Yaozhou porcelain.
